Located far away from the heart of the city, we found this restaurant called Abhinand Grand. We were politely welcomed by the hostess and guided towards the table. There were a couple of parties in the restaurant due to which it looked a little chaotic with kids running all over the place. Thankfully, we were offered to so sit on the other side — funnily enough, that’s what I had in mind in the first place.

Abinand Grand, L B Nagar, Hyderabad: Decor

The sight of well-lit large aquariums with lots of colorful fish of different shapes and sizes greets the visitors as soon as they enter. The ambience is clean, tidy and welcoming but I would have preferred brighter lights. Simple, mild colored walls, checked flooring and comfortable seating with partitions made this an ideal restaurant.

Abinand Grand, L B Nagar, Hyderabad: Food

The menu is quintessentially a mix of Indian and Chinese. We began with veg clear soup which was decent and comforting but too sweet to my palate. We followed this with tangdi kebab, well-marinated chicken legs in aromatic spices and tandored to perfection. It was juicy, with the meat falling off the bone, and thoroughly enjoyable. Then came loose prawns, which are medium-sized battered fried prawns tossed in fried green chillies, curry leaves and garlic and garnished with fresh coriander. Appealing to eyes and taste buds, it one of the favorites.

For the mains, we ordered dal fry with roti and mutton dum biryani. While the dalwas delicious with the right amount of flavors coming from the tempering, the roti was disappointing as there were no soft pieces — it was all toasted and crunchy. Mutton biryani was aromatic and flavorful with chunks of mutton pieces that were soft and succulent. We finally finished off with Hyderabad’s favorite dessert qubani ka meetha that was decent. Overall it was a decent place that offers good food at a reasonable price.
