Jivati Organic Restaurant, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad: DECOR
A massive statue of Lord Ganesha at the entrance gives a sense of purity and warmth to the ambience. A simple fine-dine setup with wood veneer flooring, hanging chandeliers and comfortable seating overlooking the live kitchen, the restaurant’s interiors are contemporary and impressive. Apart from dining, guests can also buy organic products — groceries, fruits, vegetables, snacks, drinks, soaps and cosmetics, at their store in the premises.
Jivati Organic Restaurant, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad: FOOD
Their à la carte menu has an array of dishes that would blow your mind. From the plain Idli, masala upma to herbs-infused beverages and seasonal spicy curries, everything in the restaurant is organic. If you are in search of the right flavor of naturally-grown tomatoes, then look no further than the Pukhtuni Tamatar Ka Shorba — a dish in which the tomatoes (all the way from Sahaydri Hills) are stuffed with garlic before being slow cooked in a clay pot to get a garlicky, creamy broth. Thereafter they are topped with fresh mint and a dash of lemon that taste very different and flavorful.
For starters try the aloo bonda — deep-fried mashed potato dumplings served with chutney.
The Mushroom 65 too is outstanding with tangy and spicy flavours.
Moving to the main course, order the exotic Crab Curry with coconut and chilli — a thick and creamy curry with a tinge of chilli made from handpicked green crabs from the Chilika Lake, Odisha. It goes really well with hot rice. Also try the Kadaknath Chicken. Jivati Restro is the only place in Hyderabad that serves this unique black chicken sourced from Madhya Pradesh. Unlike the regular chicken, it has a meaty flavour and distinct texture. They also offer Pandem Kodi, lobsters from Sri Lanka and certified organic tiger prawns from Chilika Lake.
For desserts opt for the Gajar Ka Halwa. Made from fresh, organic carrots, ghee and honey, it is absolutely delightful and a must-try. Apart from à la carte, they also serve South, North and East Indian thalis, which are unlimited and priced at Rs. 399. They keep changing menus daily but everything they serve, is nutritious. In a nutshell, each and every dish in the restro is distinct and comes at a premium price.
