The simple yet warm interiors of Krishnapatnam prove that restaurants need not be chic or glittery to create the right mood for food. Here, things are kept minimalistic, and the wooden furniture, wall decor and the cutlery goes well with the traditional Telugu cuisine.

An assortment of traditional dishes and signature tandoori preparations stood out among the starters. We began with a refreshing nimma (lemon) soda and crispy mokka jonna wada (corn patties) that came with tangy mango pickle. The restaurant’s specialities include bandi style miryala paneer, kamuju pitta fry, korameenu fry and chicken seekulu. Chicken seekulu was a delight to the taste buds with the right blend of spices.

They have some exciting dishes in the main course section as well and we found it tough to decide what to choose. Finally, we went for palakura pappu (palak dal), allam kodi vepudu (chicken) and miriyala mamsam vepudu (lamb) to be had with white rice.After the comfort of pappu and rice peppered with ghee, the chicken turned out to be way too hot (chilly) to handle but the lamb fared well. They also have a wholesome thali which includes all the regular accompaniments and it is reasonably priced.

From muri mixture and poori aloo kurma to jeedipappu chicken pakoda and mutton liver fry, their extravagant menu is a foodie’s delight.Coming to pulaos and biryanis, they have most of them, from flavorful veg pulao to spicy kheema biryani. However, the dessert section turned out to be a disappointment; as the same local fare was expected but only found a couple of them were there. Though one might find the place little pricy, it’s a decent place to visit considering the variety of choices provided.
