Parosa is a cafe specializing in western and fusion food. It also offers Indian and pan-Asian comfort food.

Parosa, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad: Decor

Located on the ground floor of a commercial building facing the main road, Parosa has a glass door – you can opt to sit near the door to enjoy the natural light or view the comings-and-goings on the road, or take one of the tables inside. The cafe’s name is an acronym for Pratik, Robin and Sachin, besides meaning ‘serving food’ in some languages, and plates on the wall are placed to depict the name.

Parosa, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad: Food

The cafe is largely about global food offering Italian, European and western fast food, besides fusion versions of dishes. There are also some Indian and pan-Asian comfort foods. Being a cafe, the beverage menu is extensive and includes many signatures – you can try the mascarpone cheese iced tea, churros chocolate shake or one of their mocktails like a guava margarita. The coffees are excellent – the espresso is mellow and strong, the cappuccino has body. Their signature is the mascarpone cheese cold coffee. The cafe serves a range of burgers like chilli paneer, the belly dance which is unusual in having aubergine, baked beans and bell peppers with hummus and onions and spaghetti burgers (which have pasta besides other fillings like chicken or veg, making them pretty filling). I ordered the chef’s lamb burger which was passable. The menu also has an extensive list of sandwiches and rolls. I liked the smell and the warmth of the meatball focaccia, but I found too many other fillings that overwhelmed the taste of the meatballs which were otherwise quite good. The chicken sausage and salami a la chef was well-cooked in a richly flavored sauce. Those who like seafood will enjoy the prawn and pomfret dishes here. The vegetarian and non-vegetarian kebabs came innovatively presented in a charcoal press recreating the tandoor look but some of them were a bit overdone. The Parosa grilled chicken steak was a well-made chicken breast with a stuffing of olives, jalapeno, bell pepper and mozzarella, and a mushroom sauce. The chicken roulade was also firm and well-cooked, with a creamy mustard sauce, and veggies and mash on the side. The matka biryani was also passable.

The cafe has some decent desserts – the blue berry cheese cake was nice and light with a rich raisin compote on the side, and the chocolate mud pie was served with fried ice-cream.

Parosa, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad: Plus & Minus

The cafe has a good range of vegetarian, chicken, mutton / lamb, fish and prawn dishes, besides a well thought-out beverage menu. It is worth visiting for Italian food.
