What used to be ATM (A Ta Maison) is now Sazerac with a complete change of menu, decor and focus. Without much ado, let me say that the small cosy space and the hidden location in the Sunder Nagar Market, with its entrance from a back lane, was more suited to a French bistro and that is where my own preference lies. So for me, the modern decor of Sazerac with its walls stripped of plaster to expose the brick and the lighting that does not allow you read the menu comfortably, jars. Even the cane chairs are both ugly and uncomfortable. Perhaps it is meant for a younger audience, an opinion that is validated when the single-page menu is completely unreadable in the too-dim light. I am not the only person shining my cellphone torch on the menu: far younger customers appear to be having the same problem. And if you have come here on a first date, be aware that there is very little space between one table and another, and hence, very little privacy.

Chef Rahul Gomes Pereira is one of the most talented kitchen professionals in the city and he has been in the kitchen on all my three visits. How he does it I have no idea because he is also in Jamun every time I have been there too. Beer fermented Monterey Jack toast (Rs. 475) is a funky, unusual starter which I loved but my companion disliked. If you want some cheese in your meal, fear not: there are plenty of options but this one is for the adventurous palate. Truffled fries with shaved Parmesan (Rs. 275) appeals to a far wider audience. Smashed avocado toast with choice of pancetta or pepper dew (Rs. 500) is yet another version of the top ingredient of the moment: avocado which ticks all the boxes of being vegan-friendly, healthy and fashionable / premium. Mac n cheese (Rs. 600) is pure comfort food, with a couple of optional add-ons. Two of their bestsellers include baby back ribs with BBQ sauce and polenta (Rs. 800) and tartufa pizza (Rs. 925) – a hand-tossed base spread with mushroom paste with crisp fried garlic and truffle oil.
