This cafe is part of a kid’s play area called Joy Joy Tales. Tucked away in a shop on the ground floor of the Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad, this is an appropriately colorful creche and kids play area. As soon as you enter you are greeted by the cafe area with low stools, tables and chairs just right for both adults and children, and a wall in bright blues and pastel shades decorated with motifs. Cabinets carry toys and art materials, while the rest of the area has playing equipment, blocks and games for children.

The menu has a balance of children’s favorites and dishes that can be enjoyed by adults as well. No mess finger foods and snacks for children include rye bread finger sandwiches, oat pancakes with chocolate and cheese, carrot and zucchini fritters, makhana and zucchini mac & cheese. Some of these can be good party options for children to eat while playing.
More substantial dishes are the lasagna listed here as Day’s Friday Night pasta dish and the quinoa khichdi with shredded broccoli, cheese and sweet corn. Small plates are also interesting – the skillet roasted paneer and olive tagine is a good healthy dish, and the roasted cauliflower, fried halloumi and spicy avocado dip is another signature. The tomato and basil soup comes with pasta instead of bread croutons and parmesan cheese, and for those on a diet there is a mean green detox veg soup.
This cafe has some good wraps like hummus all veggies, siracha paneer, pesto spinach bell pepper goat cheese, and more. Comfort plates includes thin crust pizzas and pastas. There is also a good choice of salads like Spanish orange and avocado salad, mango kale and quinoa salad and the warm quinoa with kale and avocado. Desserts are the waffles and pancakes with various spreads that have become ubiquitous on kids menus these days.
There are some good coffees for the adults, and children may like the milkshakes with familiar tastes like Bournvita besides the usual chocolate or cookie shakes.
