South 54 is the South Indian specialty Restaurant of Hotel Pride Plaza. It has recently introduced a new menu with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

On the first floor of the hotel, this restaurant is fairly elaborate with lit up screens, wall panels, fancy light fittings and tables on a central disk. Screens help partition the good-sized restaurant. From time to time, usually on weekends, they have performances of classical dances.

South 54 is strong on South Indian starters. We started with the peppery soup called Kozhi Milangu Charu. For vegetarians they have Phalli Charru with drum sticks and vegetables. The Mansa Sukka with its tinge of coconut and the well-spiced Mutton Pepper Fry both had a melt-in-the mouth texture. If you prefer chicken, you could try the Kori Ghee Roast or the coconut garnished Kerala Chicken Roast. Anjal Fry is a Mangalorean-inspired fish dish. Pattravali Macchi has banana leaf wrapped fish. Mangalorean Gobi Fry has a good Mangalorean style flavor with curry leaves. Kaju Kothimbir Vade is one of their house special starters for vegetarians.

For the mains, they have created dishes like Paneer Chettinad. A good vegetarian dish is the Gola Kadi with chickpea. They also have a Vegetable Stew. The Yelli Gassi is a good choice for seafood lovers, and it is not bad. The Nandan Kozhi Curry is an okayish chicken main course. These can be paired with the Kerala Porotta.

For dessert you can opt for their rice pudding called Unniyappamor the Mysore Pak.
