The word ‘Sukhibhava’, meaning ‘wishing prosperity and happiness’, is usually a post meal prayer thanking the host for cooking it and is an apt name for the restaurant.Founded by Jigyasa Puranam,this humble restaurant in the by-lanes of Dilsukhnagar serves pure vegetarian food with health and hygiene as priority and stress on the trust factor.

The à la carte menu is decent with regular South and North Indian fare apart from a few Chinese dishes. While the à la carte menu is impressive, it is more popular for its thalis that are interesting and wholesome with a rotating menu. The thali is well-balanced with proteins, carbs and fats in equal proportions.The best part is they only use steel vessels for cooking and copper handis for the biryanis.

We ordered a South Indian thali and Dum Biryani. Thali comes on a banana leaf with the regular fare accompanied by a rice bowl, papad, sambhar and rasam. The puris made of whole wheat were soft and went perfectly with the capsicum potato curry. Then we moved on to the rice and dal which were very close to what we cook at home with perfect tempering and aroma. And its flavors heightened when had with generous toppings of ghee and bhindi fry. With unlimited servings, the menu is a real value for money. They also serve North Indian thali and for the health-cautious one’s a Millet Special thali.

The slow-cooked Veg Dum Biryani is a fantastic dish to keep you going and is a vegetarian’s dream come true. It’s a delicious and fragrant dish that serves two. Overall, it was a soul satisfying meal that was also easy on our pockets.
