Wave: Double Tree By Hilton, Bopal, Ahmedabad: Decor
Wave is designed to go with the location of Ahmedabad on the Sabarmati River – the ceiling has layers of curves, the furniture includes sofas and chairs with curves, and even some of the crockery goes with the theme. Blue backed chairs also match the name Wave. The overall look
and feel is modern with sleek contemporary furniture, and columns ensure some privacy for the tables. Large windows offer a good view of trees by day and the lights on the main road at night.
Wave: Double Tree By Hilton, Bopal, Ahmedabad: Food
This restaurant is known for its good sized buffet lunch and dinner, but we decided to select from the a la carte menu.
We started with the Roasted Pumpkin Soup, which was delightful – smooth and velvety with candied walnuts providing a crunchy contrast and ricotta dumplings adding to the creaminess. The kebabs here are excellent – the Kadak Gosht ka Seekh and Makhmali Murgh ke Tikke with a rich marinade and cooking that gives them a moist perfection. For the mains, we ordered Roasted Chicken which was plump, firm and fork tender, Apart from the Lemon and Thyme Roasted Chicken on the menu, the chef made a special for us in barbecue sauce which gave it a deep and smoky flavor.
The restaurant has a wide choice of mains like Stuffed Aubergine in Burnt Garlic Sauce, Nizami Kheema and the Stir Fried Asian Greens. There is also a good choice of pasta dishes as also rice dishes like risotto, fried rice and biryani. We ordered Marinara Risotto which had a substantial quantity of fish, prawn and squid in a rich tomato and cream sauce.
We ended with a Hazelnut Chocolate Texture and Coconut Bounty Cake, both of which were pretty good.
Plus & Minus:
This is a good restaurant for North Indian, western and pan-Asian food. They also offer Meal-in-a-Bowl on the go.
