Sweden’s Secret? It’s Simple. It’s Natural. It’s Simply Nature.
Roam through the wild, lush forest or dip your kayak paddle in one of 100,000 lakes. Pass an afternoon picking plump cloudberries or earthy mushrooms, the fresh smell of dirt clinging to the soles of your hiking boots. Feel the late summer sun warm your shoulders by day and listen to the crackling campfire once night falls. By its nature, Sweden is raw, real, and ready to welcome delegates to the Adventure Travel World Summit in 2019.
Sweden is a nation of simple pleasures, accessible experiences, and sustainable innovation — an ideal setting for 750 Summit delegates eager to build relationships within the international adventure tourism community, foster partnerships, and access cutting-edge professional development.
Of course, there’s plenty of time for play and exploration as well: During carefully curated Pre-Summit Adventures and Day of Adventures, discover the secrets of one of the world’s most sustainable tourism destinations through soft adventures and nature-focused experiences.
Sweden is a leader in innovation, sustainability, and environmental conservation — a fitting combination for the adventure travel industry, which is also pushing boundaries, creating movements, and positioning itself as the leader within the larger tourism industry. United by the theme Omtanke, The Way Forward, the Summit’s educational focus will follow in Sweden’s footsteps. Educational sessions will be reflected in the Swedish word omtanke — which connotes “caring” and “consideration” as well as “thinking again” — while challenging delegates to think critically about the way forward.
Sweden is a country close to the earth: Unspoiled natural spaces, a laid-back lifestyle, authentic experiences, and simple, quiet moments. Tucked in West Sweden, Gothenburg embraces this down-to-earth vibe with a rich variety of nature and culture in a mini-metropolis situated by the ocean. Explore the green city’s parks, gardens, and historic castles, then head out for a day of hiking, cycling, sea kayaking, or canoeing. With rocky coastlines dotted with picturesque villages and open fields, vast forests, and countless serene lakes, travelers have a vast array of options for getting back to nature. Adventure Travel World Summit 2018 | Montecatini Terme, Tuscany | 15-18 October 2018
The Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) will take place at the centrally located Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg.
The hotel is part of the Nordic Choice brand. With 16,000 employees and almost 200 hotels, the Nordic Choice has a massive influence through its operations. It works hard to make the planet a better place through its sustainability work, both by improving its own operations and by being a leader for other hotel companies around the globe. Beginning 1 April 2019, Clarion Hotel Post will have climate-smart conferences, which means it will rely on energy consumption, serve 100 percent plant-based food, use a mulcher, and continue to offer a “sweet stay” option, allowing guests to choose whether to have their rooms cleaned if they stay more than one night.
