Some two weeks into a longish work trip, heavy on highway eating, I developed an unshakeable craving for burgers. So naturally, once back, the first thing I do is scroll through Tricity options and zero-in on Cafe Delhi Heights (CDH). Their ample multi-cuisine menu–Indian, Western, Asian–celebrates Delhi’ cosmopolitan yet comfort-seeking palate. Food options range from street food specials like ISBT Maggi Makhni to New Zealand Lamp Chops. As also your usual offerings: soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, biryanis, and meal bowls, alongside shakes, smoothies, desserts, as well as, an extensive bar menu.

Cafe Delhi Heights, Chandigarh Industrial Area: Food

I looked through their burger options and settled on the much-touted Juicy Lucy, one of Cafe Delhi Heights (CDH)’s best-selling items by all accounts. A good thing they’d started doorstep delivering it as well, as a clumsy mishap with the ankle has found me temporarily housebound. A couple of commiserating friends stayed on for dinner that day and we added the Herbed Vegetables Club Sandwich and a vegetarian Khichadi to our order. We briefly toyed with the Motichoor Laddu Cheesecake as our dessert but then thought better of trying it on a dine-in visit.

Plus & Minus:

The order, delivered in environmentally sound boxes and tubs emblazoned with the brand’s logo et al, arrived on the dot. The arhar-dal khichadi was still hot and came with a smallish tub of fresh curd, and was a decent-sized serving for one. Loaded with veggies and mildly spiced, it should have left a lingering memory, except the texture, very pasty, let it down. The sandwich, accompanied by potato wedges, was quite tasty, a generous amount of finely shredded vegetables made the filling quite substantial. The humungous lamb burger took me by surprise as I’d quite forgotten its size from earlier outings at Cafe Delhi Heights (CDH) Delhi. Smothered in potato wedges, it was just as delicious though. The juiciest meat patty I’ve had in recent times, not least because of its molten cheese and chopped gherkin centre, slathered with red-cabbage coleslaw and sandwiched between seeded sesame buns–need I say more!
