Coriander Kitchen is the all-day restaurant at Hotel Conrad. They serve cuisines from across the globe and is popular for the lavish spread in their buffets. Their Sunday brunch is probably one of the best and most luxurious brunches in the city. Keeping up with the weekend lockdown restrictions, they have recently launched a Friday brunch.

Coriander Kitchen – Conrad Pune: Decor

The most striking feature of the restaurant is the tall 40 feet fully-glazed wall that overlooks the outdoor area. The decor is elegant and sophisticated and the seating is comfortable. The buffet counters, the live counters and the elaborate dessert counter are well designed and practically located. The outdoor seating is by a soothing waterscape and garden. This is a diverse space that is perfect for a work meeting over breakfast or lunch or dinner with friends, family or colleagues.

Coriander Kitchen – Conrad Pune: Food

Conrad’s executive chef Sidney D’cunha and his team curate a lavish and elaborate feast that is meticulously planned to hero the best ingredients and diverse cuisines. The Friday brunch included sections and counters for Indian, Mediterranean, Pan-Asian and European food. Along with these, there were separate counters for street food, cheeses and cold cuts, salads, grills and barbeque, mezze, desserts, patisserie and ice cream. We started with the cold seafood salads beautifully presented with an ice sculpture. The poached prawn salad and the salmon gravlax were our top picks. From the salad counter, we tried the simple and classic tomato burrata salad but the other options looked amazing too. It’s always impressive to see the use of unconventional fruits and vegetables in salads at buffets. So you had a roasted pumpkin and edamame salad, a cucumber, spinach and cream cheese salad, honey glazed carrots and french beans salad and a poached pear and pine nuts salad. Along with the salads we sampled the different cheeses and cold cuts from the cheese and charcuterie section. From the monsoon counter, we tried the crispy onion bhajia which was fried to perfection but low on salt. The chicken 65 and prawn koliwada were delicious. From the ingenious thepla tacos counter, we tried the paneer bhurji and mutton bhuna fillings on methi thepla tacos, both were really good. The world counter had perfectly constructed tarts, buns and puffs with different fillings. My top picks here were the mushroom ragout pie and the savoury pumpkin and pecan pie. Moving on to the main course, we gravitated towards the European section and tried the sticky and perfectly cooked braised pork belly with barbeque sauce, a hearty seafood stew, the pot roast lamb which was carved live and a delicious tomato and basil risotto with chargrilled broccoli and asparagus. We also tried the confit duck with cranberry jus, but it was a bit dry and overcooked. From the Indian section, we tried with gosht biryani and the simple and tasty daal tadka with rice and from the Asian section tried the flavorful vegetable Thai green curry. With more than 25 different types of desserts, this section takes elaborate to another level. Desserts include a variety of mithais, waffles, pancakes, cupcakes, tarts, entremets, pastries, mousses, pannacotta and ice creams. Our top picks were the key lime pie, Belgian chocolate cake, the banana almond noisette and mango crème brulee.

Plus & Minus:

The Friday brunch was impressive. The quality, taste and consistency of the food are always on point. The staff is polite, courteous and very helpful. It might seem expensive, but it is worth every penny.
