“Food is a superpower. It makes people smile,” says Sanjyot Keer and he sure keeps his fan following of over 10 million hooked and always smiling. He’s also a regular at the Thane restaurant under review. What have been his many experiences at Mumbai Fast? After all, consistency is the most important criterion to judge the food and service. “Overall, Mumbai Fast has been a great experience We love the ambience, the service and the food with its huge menu spread,” says Sanjyot Keer. He’s not just another regular diner here, his opinion carries weight and value. The brilliant 29-year-old dynamo food influencer has been putting Indian food on the digital global gourmet map and simultaneously making it exciting, simple and accessible to the younger foodies too. And, judging by the 10 million fan following, Chef Sanjyot Keer has obviously hit the sweet spot. Three years ago, a popular magazine hailed him amongst the list of ‘Tycoons of Tomorrow’, deservedly too. It’s always a joy to spend time with this brilliant and down-to-earth charmer.

The restaurant is located inside the handsome white building of Vihang Palm club, Thane. It has clean minimalistic lines lines and a pleasant comfortable ambiance.

Truffle Mushroom Soup To Churros

Our lunch flags off with a brilliant creative presentation of the Truffle Mushroom Soup. Creamy and intense with truffle, it ticks all the right boxes. Presentation plays a big role even in the delicious Wine Poached Pear delicately placed in the centre of the plate. This is followed by a wide selection of cuisines. Robustly spiced Mutton Korma, melt-in-the-mouth Mutton Galouti and Mutton Kakori Kebab, all made by their Chef Naushad Ali from Lucknow.

Talented Chef Lalit Bhat’s menu zig zags all over the world, from Italy to Mexico to China. One must try the Three Mushroom Pizza, with its generous topping and the crispy, cheesy loaded nachos too.

We are pleasantly surprised by the thin-skinned dumplings, plump with edamame and truffle. The translucent Crystal Dumplings stuffed with vegetables are recommended too. Through our lunch, I’m riveted by all the path breaking work that Sanjyot is doing. Especially his recent globetrotting gourmet couple, Sanjyot and Payal are regulars here. His wife, a beauty with brains, is a qualified professional CA. “She loves the churros so much that she drives here specially for them,” says Sanjyot. A pity that she couldn’t join us today as she had professional commitments.
The Mexican churros indeed are airy, crunchy and crisp. Dusted with cinnamon powder and sugar, paired with velvety chocolate spread and whipped cream, they’re the showstoppers here.

My Point

Double congratulations to the dynamic and young Purvesh Sarnaik for opening a restaurant of this scale in Thane and for bringing in sophistication of global cuisine. Be it the French Truffle Mushroom soup or the Mexican churros, there is plenty to choose from here. He calls it a “free spirited bar” as the restaurant offers live music on some days and unique cocktails too. It takes a lot of guts to open during the pandemic. Kudos!
